Let’s harness resources together to develop the country – Head of Service
The
new Head of Civil Service, Dr. Evans Aggrey-Darkoh, has underscored the need
for collaborative effort to make Ghana the haven one would want to be. He
stressed that “one tree doesn’t make up the forest. So, we will need all of you
to work individually and collectively wherever you are”.
The Head of Service said this when a delegation led by the President of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana Ladies Club (CLOGSAGLAC), Mrs. Patricia Dovi-Sampson, paid a courtesy call to congratulate him on his appointment as the new Head of the Ghana Civil Service and also, to rally support as a Club during his tenure.
Dr. Aggrey-Darkoh explained to
the delegation that the implication of undeveloped societies meant that members
within the societies were not performing their roles. He therefore charged members,
represented by Executives and Ministerial Reps to perform their individual roles
relentlessly to champion national development.
“I tell people that you cannot
have a perfect situation but take any situation to make it perfect. Once you
perform your roles, I’m certain that this country will be a better place to
be”, he expressed.
The Head of Service further
stressed on the need for capacity building among membership of the Club.
According to him, in this vein, the Association would not only exist but will
exist, co-exist and execute its core objectives for the betterment of the
entirety of the members. “I want to urge you to pursue policies, pursue
activities, pursue programmes and career development courses that will
culminate to the benefit of the rank and file” of the club.
He reiterated that the Ladies
Club was the first group to pay a courtesy call on him since his assumption of
duty as the new Head of Civil Service. He charged leadership of the Club to
continuously uphold the welfare of its members and by extension the whole of Ghana Civil Service.
The delegation paid a similar
courtesy call on the new Chief Director of the Office of the Head of Civil
Service (OHCS), Mrs. Eunice Osae.
Speaking to the delegation, she
maintained that there were vast opportunities in the civil service and
encouraged female Civil Servants to take advantage of them. She added that, for
that reason, ladies need to eschew hindrances in the form of excuses that
deny them from participating in capacity building and career development
programmes.
“When opportunity is there and
you do not have the qualification, you can’t take it. So I want to encourage
you that let’s position ourselves so that when there’s the opportunity, we will
be part of the people that will be considered”, she said.
On behalf of the executives
and membership of the Ladies Club, Mrs. Dovi-Sampson assured both the Head of
Service and the Chief Director of the Club’s unwavering support.
